I was lucky enough to find my passion for music at an early age as a kid spending hours alone listening to all genres of local Nashville radio stations and to the stacks of old 45s that my parents had around the house...Their collection was diverse enough to expose me to everything from Elvis to old school country (Johnny Cash/Willie Nelson/Hank) to rock (Boston/Pink Floyd/Stones/Beatles) to 70s Singer Songwriters (Neil Young/James Taylor) to Disco, Punk and New Wave...But those 45s not only exposed me to those artist's hits, but luckily also to the more obscure/lesser known 'B-Sides' of those records, really opening the door to my curiosity.
But it wasnt until after high school that i picked up an acoustic guitar and taught my self to play, immediately steering away from the traditional way of trying to learn to play by playing cover songs. I was fascinated with how a simple guitar chord progression and a simple 'melody' (humming or mouthing random syllables and words) 'fused' together so beautifully and flowed out so easlily for me...I was immediately hooked on the songwriting process ,although the final lyrics mainly come last for me in that process. After purchasing a used Tascam 4 track recorder, I started recording and multitracking these musical ideas, slowly honing my songwriting skills... It was in the early 90s, after becoming a huge fan of (and religiously watching) MTV's '120 Minutes' , that i really sort of 'come to age' as a singer, songwriter and guitar player, totally emmersing myself with the 'Alt Rock/Garage Rock/Indie Rock' movement of the time, but at the same time holding on tight to my old school upbringing of 70s Rock, early 80s New Wave/Post Punk and the simple melodic Singer-Songwriter Acoustic Roots Music that had inspired me as a young kid.
Ive been writing , recording and playing music ever since, going back and forth in between 'band' collaborations and solo acoustic 'singer-songwriter' phases and those very diverse styles of music seem to naturally come from that. Songwriting is definitely in my blood. Ive learned over the years that i cant 'not' play and write music in life...
"Music is my therapy for a bad day...Its my Saving Grace for low points in life...it gives me joy like nothing else...
it is my passion"
Over the years as i age, i still learn or hear something new every day that helps to inspire me and expand my diversity in music, songwriting and the creative process. From Indie Rock, to Punk, to Alt Country, to Americana or Acoustic Roots Music and everything in between, i love it all. And to me, it all pretty much comes from the same place anyway when it comes down to it. I write my music from the heart, the mood, the day....Never really knowing what will flow out next...
We'll see....

The Rhythm Saints is my current project started in early 2023 as just a laidback 'acoustic guitars only' thing...It has quickly progressed into a full-on five pc electric rock band and we're currently writing/collaberating, recording, rehearsing and hoping to play some local and regional shows very soon...Consisting of mixed electric and acoustic guitars, with bass, drums and horns/trumpet...We seemed to have found a nice blend of Indie/Alt/Acoustic/Americana and even some Punk Rock flavors with this new project...This lineup consists of me on Vocals and Acoustic/Electric/Lap Steel Guitars, Dave Cour on Electric Guitar, Bobby McGlocklin on Bass, Matt Stutler on Horn/Vocals and Steve Dalton on Drums and Percussion...I'm really excited about writing new stuff for this project!...Check out a few new tunes on our Soundcloud page...And stay tuned for more news on some live shows coming very soon!

Modern Day Fire (2014-2022)-Consisting of myself on guitar and vocals, fellow Singer-Songwriter Jonathan Mason also on guitar and vocals, Steve Smith on bass and Shaun Washburn on drums. Combining Jon and Shaun's New England northern roots with Steve's Midwestern roots and my 'Nashville Native' southern roots, we bring together the perfect blend of different backgrounds , upbringings and musical diversity.
Somehow by chance ,we all met up and quickly realized that we all had the same mutual love for 'The Replacements' , we just naturally meshed and the songwriting jam sessions seemed to produce a nice mix of Indie Rock, Punk, Alt Country, Americana and Acoustic Singer-Songwriter Roots Music.
